Copper is Naturally Anti-Microbial.

The EPA has tested copper and certifies that it is anti-microbial against bacteria such as E. coli, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and many others. With regular use and cleaning, copper can fight these bacteria without the use of chlorine based cleaners or other harsh chemicals.

Now is a great time to get copper in your kitchen or bath.

Welcome to CopperCountertops.Net by Copperworks.

We have been covering counters in copper for nearly 30 years and we can help you get the copper countertop you want.

Copperworks has been creating range hoods and countertops in Zinc, Brass, Stainless Steel (hoods only) and, of course, Copper since 1981.

Call us at 888-530-7630 for more information on our copper countertop fabrication. Or e-mail: Sales@thecopperworks.com

Here's the basic overview:

1. We build plywood subtops based on your dimensions and plans.

2. We cover the subtops in Copper (or other metal) and bond the metal to the wood.

3. After inspection, we package them in a wooden crate and ship them to you. Or, if you are in Northern California, you can pick them up in our shop.

Frequently Asked Questions about Copper Countertops:

How does it wear: Copper is a soft metal that reacts to its environment. Therefore, small dents are normal and it will form a mottled appearance as it reacts with water, fingerprints and other substances.

What color should I expect: The first thing about copper countertops: don't expect them to stay shiny and polished. Copper reacts with many substances from the oil on your fingertips to lemon juice and ketchup. Just how your countertops will look depends on how you use them, but the best thing you can do for them is to wipe them with water and a mild soap. The water will help darken the copper, but water marks and other spots will come and go on a regular basis. Without any patina application, you can expect a mottled brown color within a month of use.

How do I clean it: Generally, clean it as you would any other countertop with a soft rag or sponge and mild dish soap. You can polish it with a metal polish if it forms a pattern or spot that is unwanted, but we recommend letting it age naturally.

Can you make it brown: Yes, and this is common on copper range hoods. Countertops, however, will have much more use on the surface and any treatment we do will not prevent future marks from forming. You will find that a nice dark brown patina gives the copper countertops a great base color and many of the spots will not generate enough contrast to stand out.

Can you make the subtops: Yes we can make the subtops based on measurements you provide. We do not go onsite nor do we install. If you are in Northern California, we recommend that you supply the subtops to us. If you are outside of our area, we can fabricate the subtops and ship the completed countertops to you. The measurements provided need to be exact and square. We will only be responsible for matching the measurements provided.

Can you make table tops: Yes and those can be made in our shop and shipped to you.

How do you ship: We pack our products in wooden crates for protection and ship via common carrier with insurance.

The use of a Copper Alloy surface is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. The Copper Alloy surface material has been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but it does not necessarily prevent cross contamination.
